Gracious Uncertainty…

A couple months ago, God comforted me with words from one of my favorite authors, Oswald Chambers–(he’s been like a faithful friend, mentor and shepherd for my heart since college!! )

“gracious uncertainty is the mark of the spiritual life. To be certain of God means that we are uncertain in all our ways, we do not know what a day may bring forth. This is generally said with a sigh of sadness; it should be rather an expression of breathless expectation. We are uncertain of the next step, but we are certain of God. Immediately we abandon to God, and do the duty”

Our family’s deepest gratitude to you and to Jesus for walking us through 8 months of uncertainty, loss and a growing hope for ETERNITY. We are living differently than we did 8 months ago, and we are thankful for all we learned from the Lord, from Sue, from this loss, and from a renewed place of HOPE and passion for living each day with sensitivity and obedience, and LOVE.

As many of you know, Dave’s Mom, Sue Ayer, went to Heaven on June 18th.  We have taken the past two months to grieve, be with family and prepare to head back overseas.

We will be flying out to Addis Ababa THIS FRIDAY, the 22nd of August, then driving south to our home in Soddo around the 30th.  We are overwhelmed by God’s unwavering presence and provision and strength in our lives and we trust Him will all things as we move forward.

If you’d please keep us close in PRAYER~thank you…

~For the truth of Eternity to change and impact us as a family and how we love and minister overseas.

~To love each other well through all the travels, changes and stresses that come with moving overseas.

~For mercy and safety over the two loooonnnngggg days of travel (22-24 of August).

~For emotional and spiritual health and protection.

~For continued grace and healing for all of Dave’s family.

~For our kids as we say goodbye to family and friends here and work to re-establish in Soddo.

~Dave’s transition back into hospital ministry.  Please pray specifically for Dave as he faces death again in Ethiopia.  Pray the GOSPEL would strengthen his heart and that it would overflow.

~For Julie and the kids as we enter into a new year of Home school with a 6th grader, a 4th grader, a 2nd grader and TWO spunky Kindergarteners…not to mention a busy 18 month Selah!!

~For our hearts to become more and more like Jesus…to love HIM above all else.

Thank you with all our hearts and may you all grow in the grace and love of Jesus.

Here we Go, Again.  In. His. Grace. ALONE.
